Discover the secrets of the City of Tromsø and our century long history with a local guide and a small group: Despite the maximum of 15 guests, most tours are held for smaller groups of 4-8.
On this tour, we cover the area of Tromsø within the original borders of 1794, from Strandtorget in the south, to Skansen in the north. Already before the city was formally established, there has been centuries of human activity in this area. Especially the last 230 years made Tromsø to what it is today.
In addition to a wealth of historical sites, we will encounter statues, busts and murals, telling stories of the people who crafted their destiny in the Arctic. Tromsø has been significant for the biographies of world-famous characters such as Roald Amundsen, as well as local heroes such as Wanny Woldstad and Henry Rudi.
A guided visit to the Polar museum is included in the tour, and we will finish at one of the oldest and most authentic bars in town. We might even see a polar bear, or two. But don’t worry, they won’t be hungry – in fact, they are quite stuffed.
